Stemming i with liv

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stemmen i mit liv ( German : The voice in my life ) was the Danish contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 1997 . The Danish rap song was interpreted by Kølig Kaj , whose real name is Thomas Lægård.

The song, which was written by Thomas Lægård and composed by Lars Petersen, is about a man who keeps calling information to talk to a girl, the “voice in his life”. But she cannot be reached; he gets drunk and is about to give up. After 20 unsuccessful attempts, he finally gets the automatic announcement that there is a short waiting time of 20 seconds at the moment, and he hurries to confess to the voice that he loves it.

Stemmen i mit liv was sung in the competition as the 21st entry, after Prima donna by Alla Pugatschowa for Russia and before Sentiments songes by Fanny for France . Jan Glæsel was conducting. The song reached the 16th place with 25 points out of 25 participants. Because of the poor placement, Denmark was not allowed to participate in the following competition in 1998. Denmark's next contribution in 1999 was the song This Time I Mean It , sung by Michael Teschl and Trine Jepsen . Due to the changed rules of participation, so that contributions no longer had to be sung in one of the national languages of the respective participant, Stemmen i with liv was the last Danish contribution so far completely in Danish. It wasn't until 2019 that the Danish contribution Love Is Forever contained part of the text in the national language for the first time.
