Stenomax aeneus is a species ofthe black beetle family (Tenebrionidae).

The beetles are 12 to 16 millimeters long. They have a black-brown, elongated body with very long legs, the middle pair of which is hairy at the end. As they move around, it looks like the beetles are paddling with them. At the end of the abdomen, the wings form two conspicuous, parallel spurs backwards.

The animals come in Southeastern Europe and the southeastern Central Europe before, in northern Germany, they are missing. They live on branches that are infested with fungi and under the loose bark of deciduous trees . They are not uncommon.
