StepStone is an online job platform based on trade - and executives specializes. The company is a subsidiary of Axel Springer SE . The company's headquarters are in Düsseldorf , with other German branches in Berlin, Kiel, Munich and Münster.

history

The company was founded in 1996 under the name Jobshop in Oslo. Two years later, the company entered the German market, with the takeover of three other companies. In 2000 the company was renamed StepStone and went public in Oslo. StepStone has been part of Axel Springer SE since 2008. In 2009 and 2010 the company was delisted and withdrawn from the stock exchanges in Oslo and London.

After the website was relaunched in 2010, StepMATCH was integrated in 2011 , a semantic search technology developed in collaboration with scientists from the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . For this purpose, the job search engine Jobanova was taken over 100%. This platform has since been discontinued. The address www.jobanova.de is now being redirected to Arbeit.de, a platform for commercial job advertisements.

In March 2016, according to measurements by the IVW , the offer recorded around 13.34 million visits. As a rule, between 70,000 and 90,000 job offers are online on StepStone. According to the study "Germany's best job portals", StepStone took first place in the category general job exchanges from 2011 to 2015. Around 30,000 companies are customers of the online job platform.

Function and structure

Companies advertise their job offers on the site. The service is free of charge for job seekers. The job vacancies on the page can be searched for using various filters. In addition to direct entry, the system offers, among other things, a search for companies, a proximity search and a detailed search.

The main page is divided into the areas of job search and career and application tips. All job offers and career tips are freely visible.

In addition to the two categories on the main page, there are also ten sub-pages for various professional fields.

In addition to the publication of job advertisements, StepStone offers additional technologies with which companies and applicants can find each other more easily and quickly. Since 2017, companies at StepStone have had the opportunity to present themselves as an employer in a job advertisement with the so-called Company Hub - for example with photos, videos, employee reviews or virtual 360-degree tours through the office.

StepStone has also specialized in measuring the cultural fit - i.e. the question of how well an applicant's personality fits into the culture of a company. In this context, the online job platform took over the Californian start-up Good & Co at the end of 2014. Good & Co is a psychometric tool that measures the cultural fit between applicants and companies as well as between individual employees or teams. StepStone has announced that it will integrate the psychometrics tool into its job advertisements in 2018.

StepStone also publishes studies on a regular basis, for example on the subject of salaries, careers and recruiting.

StepStone International

StepStone currently operates national online job exchanges in 23 countries. In 2002 StepStone became a founding member of The Network, an international recruiting network with members from 135 countries.
