Stephan Gatter (born October 9, 1955 in Gotha ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From June 2000 to 2017 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Life

Gatter graduated from high school in 1976 and then studied from 1976 to 1977 at the University of Heidelberg and from 1977 to 1987 at the Universities of Cologne and Bonn, medical informatics, history and evangelical theology, which he completed with the first state examination in history and theology for completed the teaching post in upper secondary level. From 1985 to 1992 he worked as a scientific member of parliament for Norbert Burger , member of the state parliament and from 1987 to 1990 also as a member of staff for Volkmar Schultz . Since 1992 he has been employed in public relations at the waste disposal and recycling company in Cologne, operator of the Cologne-Niehl waste incineration plant. There he has also been chairman of the works council since 1994. This employment relationship continues despite the mandate as a member of parliament.

Gatter became a member of the SPD NRW in 1975 and has been a member of the Cologne sub-district committee since 1997. He was a member of the GEW from 1979 to 1985 and has been a member of the ÖTV / ver.di union since 1985 . From 1987 to 1997 he was chairman of the SPD Cologne-Höhenberg and assessor in the district executive committee of Cologne-Kalk. In 2002 he was elected to the Central Rhine Regional Board of the SPD. In the state elections in 2000 he was elected to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia for the first time. He was elected to parliament four times directly in the Cologne VI state electoral district (west of Kalk, Deutz, north of the city center). He was a full member of the Main Committee, the Committee on Environment and Nature Conservation, Agriculture and Consumer Protection and the Committee on Budgetary Control. Gatter did not run for the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2017 .
