Stephan Hugo Winters

Stephan Hugo Winters (born February 25, 1963 in Düren ) is a German political official . From 2008 to 2010 he was State Councilor in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Düren in 1982 and completing community service , Winters studied economics in Münster and Hamburg from 1984 and graduated in 1990 with a degree in economics. He then worked as a research assistant at the International Tax Institute at the University of Hamburg until 1994. In 1995 he became a Dr. rer. pole. PhD.

As early as 1993, parallel to his doctorate, Winters worked as a consultant for budget policy and administrative reform for the GAL parliamentary group of the Hamburg citizenship . In 1997 he moved to the Ministry of Finance of Saxony-Anhalt, where he became a consultant in the ministerial office. In 1998 he returned to Hamburg and was employed in the Senate Chancellery and as the office manager of the second mayor until 2000. He then took over the management of the university medicine department in the authority for science and research . From 2006 until his appointment to the State Council, Winters was managing director of the medical faculty at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf .

From May 2008 to November 2010, Winters was State Councilor for the areas of construction, traffic and urban development in the authority for urban development and the environment led by Anja Hajduk (GAL) .

From 2011 to 2013 he was head of the budget department of the Senator for Finance in Bremen.

Stephan Hugo Winters is married and has two grown children.
