Stephan Letzel

Stephan Letzel (born June 7, 1954 in Munich ) is a German occupational physician and university professor .

Career

Letzel first studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich and graduated in 1982 with a diploma. From 1982 to 1988 he studied medicine at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . In 1988 he was licensed as a doctor. After working as a research assistant at the Polyclinic for Occupational, Social and Environmental Medicine at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, he completed his habilitation in 1994.

Since 2001 he has been head of the Institute for Occupational, Social and Environmental Medicine at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . In addition, Letzel is chairman of the committee for occupational medicine (AfAMed) of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and vice-president of the German society for occupational medicine and environmental medicine .

For his services to occupational medicine and the promotion of public health, Letzel was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 2015.

Letzel was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the European Research Association for Environment and Health in the Transport Sector (EUGT).
