Stephan Möllmann

Stephan Möllmann , also: Möllemann , Müllmann and Latinized Myliander (* unknown; † around 1610 in Rostock ) was a German printer.

Life

Nothing is known about Stephan Möllmann's origins and training. In 1560 he acquired citizenship in Rostock and in 1560/61 managed the printing works of Ludwig Dietz, who died in 1559, in Rostock. From 1561 prints appeared under his name. He later married his predecessor's widow.

In 1577 he sold his brewery near the Nikolai churchyard in Rostock. In 1578 his wife signed her house on the Hopfenmarkt for him. In 1592 he sells this house on to Christopher Hein. He worked as a printer in Rostock for about 50 years. In 1579 he was appointed university printer as the successor to Jacob Lucius the Elder . In 1610 Joachim Fueß (Pedanus) was named as his successor.

46 of his prints are listed in Conrad Borchling's and Bruno Claussen's Low German Bibliography . In 1607 he printed a Finnish hymn book.
