Stephan Pusch

Stephan Pusch (born October 9, 1968 in Kleingladbach ) is a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ). He has been the district administrator of the Heinsberg district since 2004 .

After graduating from high school in Hückelhoven in 1988 , Pusch began studying law at the University of Cologne in 1989 , which he completed in 1994 with the first state examination in law. He then completed his legal clerkship at the Mönchengladbach Regional Court . In 1996 he passed the second state examination in law, was admitted to the bar and worked as an independent lawyer at Henning & Kollegen law firm in Hückelhoven from 1997 to 2004.

Party politics

Pusch joined the CDU in 1984. He was a member of the district board of the Junge Union and from 1999 to 2004 chairman of the CDU city association Hückelhoven. He began his career in local politics in 1994 as a competent citizen in the Heinsberg district. In 1999 he became a member of the district council.

Pusch has been the full-time district administrator of the Heinsberg district since 2004. He was elected for the first time in the local elections on September 26, 2004 with 56.2% of the vote and in the local elections on August 30, 2009 with 60.8% and in the local elections on May 25, 2014 with 59.9% of the votes confirmed in office. As the head of the district administration, he has about 1000 employees, he is also the chairman of the district council and the district committee as well as the head of the district police authority.

COVID-19 pandemic

Pusch gained notoriety beyond the borders of North Rhine-Westphalia in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany as coordinator of the area worst affected by SARS-CoV-2 with the district of Heinsberg .

Private

Stephan Pusch is married. He has two grown sons from his first marriage and three children from his second marriage and lives with his family in the Hückelhoven district of Altmyhl .
