Stephan Röken

Stephan Röken (* 1963 ) is a German diplomat and has been the German ambassador to Senegal since 2017 .

Life

Röken studied business administration and then went into the foreign service .

From 1993 to 1996 he worked at the German embassy in Addis Ababa ( Ethiopia ), and from 1999 to 2002 at the embassy in Sofia ( Bulgaria ). In 2002 he became permanent representative at the German Embassy in Cotonou , Ivory Coast . From 2005, Röken worked in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation , and from 2007 to 2009 he was deputy head of department at the Foreign Office . In 2009 he became permanent representative at the German Embassy in Islamabad , Pakistan . Between 2014 and 2017 he worked again at the Foreign Office, this time as head of department.

Röken has been the Federal Republic of Germany's ambassador to Senegal since August 2017, with his official seat in Dakar .
