Stephan Schiemann

Stephan Schiemann (* 21st July 1976 in Peine as Stephan Turbanski ) is a German sports scientists and university teachers .

Life

After attending school in Lamspringe (1983 to 1989) and at the Roswitha-Gymnasium Bad Gandersheim (1989 to 1997) as well as subsequent community service, he studied sports science, sports medicine, and medieval and modern history (graduated as Magister Artium in November 2002) as well as sports and history for higher teaching degree (graduation in September 2003). From 2003 he was employed as a research assistant at the Institute for Sports Science at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , where he submitted his doctoral thesis in December 2005 with the title “On Postural Control in Parkinson's Disease: Biomechanical Diagnosis and Training”. This work, supervised by Dietmar Schmidtbleicher , was rated “ magna cum laude ”.

Between 2005 and 2010 he worked as a lecturer for movement and training theory at the Ludwigsburg University of Education , in 2010 he took on a substitute professorship for sports science with a focus on movement, training and health at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg . In 2011 he completed his habilitation in Frankfurt (subject: “Postural control in static and dynamic measurement conditions - evaluation and training interventions”). On April 1, 2012, he took up a full professorship for sports science at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg and took over the management of the sports science unit.

The areas of Schiemann's scientific work include health promotion, stretching and flexibility training, jumping strength training, speed training, training in physical education, strength training in children and adolescents, talent finding and promotion (wheelchair basketball) in school and company health promotion.
