Stephan Schmidlin (born January 18, 1963 in Baar ) is a Swiss wood sculptor , comedian and actor . He was best known through the comedy duo Schmirinskis with his partner René Rindlisbacher .

Life

Schmidlin is the son of Walter Schmidlin, the managing director of Schmidlin AG founded by his grandfather in Affoltern am Albis with 300 employees. He attended the school for wood carving in Brienz , which he graduated in 1991. In his spare time he was an artistic gymnast and in 1991 became Swiss champion in apparatus gymnastics.

In 1986 he founded the comedian duet Schmirinski with his childhood friend René Rindlisbacher . In 1991 you were honored with the “Young Artist of the Year” award. In 1995 they started with the Saturday evening program “Top of Switzerland”. After five years “Top of Switzerland”, they disbanded in 2001 at the height of their careers. They called their last show "Top of Schmirinskis", in which they showed excerpts from the last years of their show. The show had over a million viewers that evening. In 1997 and 2001 they were awarded the Prix ​​Walo .

After his time as a comedian, he devoted himself to wood carving and designed sculptures and carvings for Prince Albert of Monaco , the World Football Association or Credit Suisse , which wanted to have designed the trophy for the athlete of the year , and the ESAF 2019 in Zug . He had exhibitions in France , London and Chicago , among others .

Schmidlin is divorced and the father of two twins.
