Stephan Widera's techniques are painting, photography, collage, photomontage and media installation. In his works, Stephan Widera deals with the tension between people, nature and technology, the disorientation of beings in an increasingly technical environment.

“Stephan Widera's painted collages put the world back together. In doing so, he does not omit anything that constitutes social reality. Whether advertising, consumption and merchandise management, pharmaceutical industry, politics and propaganda, porn and erotic. Whether celebrity lust and star airs, fashions and the so-called zeitgeist [.] [...] Stephan Widera also dedicates himself to art history with the same abysmal humorous consideration. He counteracts the affirmative spirit of Pop Art, for example, with its explosive social connections, and Warhol's soup cans are charged with political jostling. Constructivism, which after all was also a social utopia, is performed in a light-footed, virtuoso dance of joy. "( Dr. Stefanie Lucci, art historian :)

In contrast to the classic surrealists of the 20s around André Breton and Max Ernst , who used the “subconscious” and dreams as a creative source, Stephan Widera draws his ideas from chance, the media and the environment. But here too, as with the historical surrealists, through changes and new compositions, realism should be overcome and a reality of its own achieved.

In addition to private collectors, many companies have acquired or commissioned works by Stephan Widera with graphics. He is also known by the stage name Stephan von Vegesack (after his birthplace Bremen- Vegesack ).
