Stephen of Le Perche (Crusader)
Stephan von Le Perche , French Étienne du Perche (* before 1191; † April 14, 1205 in Adrianople ) was a knight and crusader . He was the son of Count Rotrou IV of Le Perche and Mathilde of Blois, daughter of Count Theobald II of Champagne .
Together with his older brother, Count Gottfried III. , he took the cross for the Fourth Crusade , but then entered it without his brother, who died in 1202. During the siege of Zara (1202) , Stephan left the army for Apulia , but rejoined him a little later. After the conquest of Constantinople in 1204, he was appointed a "Duke of Philadelphia " by Emperor Baldwin I , which, however, had yet to be conquered.
Before that happened, Stephan fell in the Battle of Adrianople . He wasn't married.
