Rotrou IV (Perche)
Rotrou IV. († July 27, 1191 before Acre ) was Count of Le Perche .
His parents were Count Rotrou III. the great and Hawise of Salisbury.
After the death of his father in 1144, his mother's second husband, Count Robert I von Dreux , took over the reign of the county of Le Perche while Rotrou was immature . With the support of his stepfather , Rotrou led a feud against his neighbor, Count Wilhelm III. Talvas of Alençon , which led to mutual devastation of their lands. In 1172 he supported the younger Heinrich against Heinrich II. Plantagenet and in 1183 against Richard the Lionheart . As a result, he lost the castles of Moulins-la-Marche and Bonsmoulins to Henry II Plantagenet.
Together with his eldest son, he joined King Philip II of France on the Third Crusade , on which he died at the siege of Acre .
Marriage and offspring
Rotrou was married to Mathilde von Blois († 1184), a daughter of Count Theobald II of Champagne . Her children were among others:
- Gottfried III. († 1202), Count of Perche
- Stephan († April 14, 1205 in Adrianople ), titular duke of Philadelphia
- Rotrou († December 10, 1201), Bishop of Châlons
