Stephan von Lentke († 1684 ) was the mayor of Magdeburg .

Life

The middle-class born Lentke was the largest property owner and dealer in the city of Magdeburg. After the city was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War in 1631, Lentke acquired various pieces of land that had been destroyed. So already in 1631 in the Breite Weg the numbers 58 ( to the golden temple ) and 146 (brewery to the white bracken , in which he also lived).

In 1641 Lentke became mayor. He held this office for 43 years until his death in 1684. As was customary at that time, other people besides him held the mayor's office, such as the well-known Otto von Guericke and Georg Kühlewein . When Guericke married Lentke's daughter Dorothea Lentke in 1652 , he became Guericke's father-in-law.

In 1649 he acquired property number 71 ( brewery for the red or brown eagle ), which he later sold again. In the following years, Lentke, who was later ennobled, also acquired further property in Magdeburg and the surrounding area. In 1651 he bought the properties at Georgenstrasse 6 and 8 and Kutscherstrasse 7 to 9. In 1652 he acquired the Benneckenbeck estate , which was largely destroyed in the Thirty Years' War , and later other properties in Klein Ottersleben . The acquisition of Grosse Schulstrasse 9 (1660) and Grosse Münzstrasse 17 (brewery at the golden anchor ) is still documented.

Honor

The street name Lentkestraße in Magdeburg-Ottersleben , to which Benneckenbeck and Klein Ottersleben belong today, reminds of Lentke's work .
