Stephen Kelly (born September 6, 1983 in Dublin ) is a former Irish football player .
Club career
Kelly went through the youth division of Tottenham Hotspur and signed his first professional contract in 2000. In early 2003 he was loaned for the first time and made his professional debut at Southend United . After two months, he returned from Southend in late March and was awarded to the Queens Park Rangers for the remainder of the season . Much of the first half of the 2003/04 season he spent at Watford FC in the Football League Championship . After returning to Tottenham, he made his Premier League debut on December 28, 2003 . Kelly did not succeed in the following season to finally play into the team, so he decided to move in the summer of 2006.
For £ 750,000 he moved to the second division Birmingham City and signed a three-year contract there. In his first season with his new club, Kelly was able to return to the Premier League as a regular on the right-back position.
For the 2009/10 season Kelly moved to the first division club Fulham .
On January 11, 2013 Kelly moved within the league to Reading FC . For this he was active two seasons. Kelly signed a deal with Rotherham United in November 2015 .
National team
Kelly took part in the 2003 Junior World Cup with Ireland's U-20 national team. He was used in all three preliminary round games, but missed the round of 16 against Colombia (2: 3) due to a yellow card suspension. In 2006 he made his debut for the Irish senior team in a friendly against Chile.
