His main work has been translated into several languages. At Stanford University he was a Research Associate (postdoctoral fellow) in the Department of Psychology until 2003. meaning

LaBerge is a basic researcher in the field of lucid dream research. Independently of Keith Hearne , who does the same research and made similar discoveries around the same time, LaBerge was able to prove scientifically as part of his doctoral thesis that lucid dreams are a real phenomenon. The essence of the experiment was the empirical observation of his eye movements in the sleep laboratory during sleep. Time and again, LaBerge was able to generate an agreed, unmistakable signal that could not be explained by chance during his lucid dreams by consciously moving his eyeballs back and forth. He was demonstrably in REM sleep . In doing so, he also proved the scanning hypothesis . The experiment was later successfully repeated by many other people in this and similar experimental set-ups (for example, solving very simple arithmetic problems in dreams).
