Stephen Antony McLaughlin (born June 14, 1990 in Donegal ) is an Irish football player who has been active for the English third division club Southend United since 2015 .

Finn Harps and Derry City

Stephen McLaughlin began his playing career with Irish second division club Finn Harps . In 2010 the first division club Derry City signed him , for whom he scored 3 goals in 33 league games in the League of Ireland 2011 . In the following season he increased his goal yield to ten league goals. In addition to a fifth place in the championship table, McLaughlin won the FAI Cup title with City thanks to a 3-2 final victory over St Patrick's Athletic .

Nottingham Forest

On January 3, 2013, the English second division Nottingham Forest announced the commitment of McLaughlin. Since he initially remained without commitment for his new club, he moved to English third division Bristol City on September 2, 2013 , for which he played five league games by the end of the year.

On April 21, 2014, McLaughlin made his debut for Nottingham Forest in a 2-0 away win over Leeds United .

At the end of September 2014, Forest loaned it to city rivals Notts County for a month .
