Alexandru Viorel Șimicu (born October 8, 1988 in Timișoara ) is a Romanian handball player .
Career
Alexandru Viorel Șimicu played for CSU Timișoara. From there, the 2.02 meter left back space player went to the Romanian top club HCM Constan Consta in 2011 , with whom he won the Romanian Cup and the championship in 2012, 2013 and 2014. He played for Constanța in the EHF Champions League and in the EHF Europa Pokal , where he was the second top scorer in the 2013/14 season with 66 goals. In 2013 he was voted Romanian handball player of the year. In 2014 Șimicu moved to the German Bundesliga club HSV Hamburg , with whom he signed a one-year contract. Since summer 2015 he has been under contract with the French club Saint-Raphaël Var Handball .
Șimicu is a member of the Romanian national team , with which he participated in the 2011 World Cup in Sweden.
