Stephen Mitchell
Stephen Mitchell (born May 26, 1948 in Oxford ) is a British ancient historian .
Life
He taught as Professor in Classics and Ancient History at Swansea University (1993–2001) and as Leverhulme Professor of Hellenistic Culture at the University of Exeter (2002–2012). In 2002 he became a Fellow of the British Academy .
His main research interests are the history and epigraphy of Asia Minor in antiquity, the history of monotheistic religions in antiquity and the history of the later Roman Empire.
