Stephen Thompson (Author)

Stephen Thompson (* 1967 ), also Steve Thompson , is a British playwright and screenwriter.

Life

After completing his studies, Thompson taught mathematics at the Tiffin School in Kingston upon Thames for twelve years . Then he gave up his job as a teacher, took courses in drama at RADA and wrote plays and scripts.

His first play, "Damages", premiered in 2004 at the Bush Theater in London. For this he received the Meyer Whitworth Award for new theatrical writing . In 2005 he was honored as Writer in Residence by the Bush Theater and wrote the political satire "Whipping It Up", which premiered with Richard Wilson in the lead role and with Terry Johnson as director in 2005 at the Bush Theater and then at the New Ambassadors in London's West End was played. His third play, Roaring Trade, premiered at London's Soho Theater with Andrew Scott in the lead role. In 2011 his last play to date, the comedy "No Naughty Bits", was released by the Hampstead Heath Theater and directed by Edward Hall.

Since 2005 he has been working primarily as a screenwriter for the BBC and other television companies. He developed u. a. the series Jericho (2016) and was involved in three episodes of the series Sherlock .
