Stereo MCs
The Stereo MCs are an English hip-hop band.
Career
The Stereo MCs were founded in 1985 in London by the singer Rob B. (Birch) and the DJ Nick “The Head” Hallam. The current line-up includes drummer Owen If and singers Cath Coffey and Aina Roxx.
The first album was recorded on a budget in 1989 for their own record label Gee Street . The single Elevate My Mind from their second album was the first British hip hop record to make it into the American charts . Their greatest success was the single Connected and the album of the same name, for which they won the Brit Awards in the British Group and British Album categories in 1994 .
The Stereo MCs are known for good live performances. Their shows, which mostly take place in smaller halls or at festivals, are regularly sold out. They also worked with various well-known DJs; for example with David Guetta (Open Your Eyes), Fedde Le Grand (Wild & Raw) and Terranova (Restless 2015). They also made a name for themselves as remixers , including for Madonna and U2 .
