Sterling Seagrave

Sterling Seagrave (born April 15, 1937 in Columbus , Ohio , † May 1, 2017 in France ) was an American expert on Asia and an author . His works included The Soong Dynasty and his book on the Chinese Empress Dowager Cixi .

Sterling Seagrave grew up on the Sino-Burmese border. He belonged to a family that was already the fifth generation to live in the Orient . His father Gordon Seagrave (1897–1965) was a missionary and writer. As a journalist based in Asia, he wrote for a number of major newspapers and magazines.

Most recently, Sterling Seagrave lived in Europe with his second wife, Peggy.
