The Stern-Apotheke is the oldest still existing pharmacy in Augsburg .

history

The pharmacy was founded in 1659 by Johann Kaspar Welsch at Maximilianstrasse 23 , at that time under the name Apotheke Zum Goldenen Stern . After Welsch's death in 1676, his daughter Judith continued to run the pharmacy. In 1681 she married Heinrich Otto Rosenbaum, who sold the pharmacy to Heinrich Otto Keller from Memmingen in 1718 . The next operator was his son Christian Georg Keller, who died young. His widow married Johann Daniel Lochsack from Arnstadt , whose son sold the pharmacy to Johann Christian Redlinger. After the latter had run down it, it was closed for a short time in 1799. In the same year, however, Johann Gottfried Dingler , who came from Zweibrücken , was appointed provisional. The 21-year-old had successfully passed his exam two days earlier. He bought the pharmacy from Redlinger after a short time, initially operated very successfully, but became insolvent in 1803. His wife divorced him after he had ceded the pharmacy to her and married her provisional agent Raimund Roth from Ulm . In 1813 he bought the house at Maximilianstrasse 27 and moved the pharmacy there. The pharmacy changed hands several times in the following years, but not the location. It is still located today at Maximilianstrasse 27, right next to the Merkur fountain .
