history

1968

In 1968, Henri Nannen ( Stern ) and Gerd Bucerius ( Die Zeit ) launched the Stern-Zeit-Blindenzeitschrift .

“In the non-profit project Stern-Zeit-Blindenzeitschrift, selected articles from the current issues of Stern and Die Zeit appear every 14 days . The 52-page booklet is regularly delivered to around 2,500 blind and visually impaired readers and to numerous institutions. "

2007

The publishing house Gruner + Jahr stopped the production and distribution of the Stern-Zeit-Blindenzeitschrift for cost reasons.

“The Hamburg publisher Gruner + Jahr wants to discontinue the 'Stern-Zeit-Blindenzeitschrift' this summer. 'We want to change the medium,' said Stern managing director Ove Saffe . The edition causes excessive losses and is no longer produced for over 6000, as it used to be, but only for 1400 subscribers. "

The Braille edition was continued as a star podcast , i.e. an audio download.

2008

The Stern-Zeit-Blindenzeitschrift is continued by the German Central Library for the Blind in Leipzig.

Star podcast

The German Central Library for the Blind in Leipzig offers an article by Stern every week as a podcast episode or as an audio download on the DZB-operated internet platform for the blind and visually impaired.
