A castle belonging to the von Sterpenich family is first mentioned in the documents of d'Autel in the 14th century.

The present castle was built between 1680 and 1690 for Jean-Adam Pellot on the old foundations. JB Henron took over the property in 1706. Extensions and renovations were carried out after the takeover by the Counts of Berlaymont during the 19th century.

The complex is located outside the village and consists of several buildings surrounding a rectangular courtyard. It was closed in 1956 and cannot be visited.

The Prime Minister Victor de Tornaco (1805–1875) of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg was born in Sterpenich Castle.
