Steve Angel

Stephen F. Angel (born 1956 in Winston-Salem , North Carolina ) is an American engineer and manager. He has been CEO of the industrial gases group Linde plc , based in Dublin , since October 2018 .

Career

Angel studied civil engineering at North Carolina State University and received a bachelor's degree there. He studied business administration at Loyola College in Baltimore and received a masters degree. In 1979 he began his professional career in the power distribution and control division at General Electric (GE). In 1992 he became General Manager for the switch boxes area. Angel took over the management of marketing for the entire division in 1995. From 1996 to 1999 he was responsible for marketing and sales in GE's transportation systems division. From 1999 to 2001 he was employed by GE in the Power Equipment division.

From 2001 he was Executive Vice President at Praxair and was elected CEO of Praxair in 2006. After the merger of Praxair with Linde AG, Angel became CEO of the newly formed Linde plc in October 2018. Angel is a member of the Board of Directors at PPG Industries and the US-China Business Council.

The Bloomberg news agency has calculated that Angel received almost $ 22 million in management compensation in 2017.
