Praxair, Inc. (originally Linde Air Products ) was a United States company based in Danbury , Connecticut . The company was listed in the S&P 500 .

history

The company was founded by Carl von Linde in 1907 as Linde Air Products , but was confiscated during World War I and incorporated into Union Carbide & Carbon Corporation in 1917 together with the National Carbon Company, Perst-O-Lite Company and Union Carbide Company . In 1989 Union Carbide Industrial Gases was spun off as an independent company under Praxair Inc. and has since been listed on the New York Stock Exchange .

In December 2016, the company announced the merger with Linde AG , also founded by Carl von Linde . The merger was completed on October 31, 2018.

The Praxair Aviation Services division (aircraft maintenance) was sold in April 2006 to the financial company Gridiron Capital, LLC.

The subsidiary “Praxair Surface Technologies, Inc.” was a supplier of ceramic-based coatings. The subsidiary “Praxair Coatec” coats turbine blades, bearings and rollers.
