Steve Stoll

Steve Stoll (* 1967 in Staten Iceland ) is the stage name of the American techno - music producer and record label owner Stephen Stoll Mayer .

Stoll also produces under the pseudonyms Acid Farm , Exit , The Blunted Boy Wonder , Cobalt , Critical Mass , Dark Man , Datacloud , Floating Point , Mr. Proper , The Operator , Storm , Systematic , Test Tones and Time Attack .

Stoll, who grew up in Brooklyn, was already engaged in music at the age of 10 and initially learned to play the drums . After high school he joined the US Army and served in the Gulf War, among other things. After his service he played drums for the band Sister Machine Gun , among others , before turning to techno music.

Page first solo record Datacloud was released in 1993 on Richie Hawtin's label rehearsal . Since the mid-1990s, a large number of other publications in the fields of minimal techno and acid techno and collaborations followed, e.g. B. with the ambient musician Pete Namlook .
