Steytlerville is a place in the municipality of Dr Beyers Naudé , Sarah Baartman District , Eastern Cape Province in South Africa . It is 405 meters above sea level on the R329 road, 85 kilometers from Willowmore . In 2011 it had, together with the township of Vuyolwetho, 4,017 inhabitants.
The place, founded in 1876 on the area of the Doorschpoort farm , is named after the clergyman Steytler. A feature of the townscape is the very wide main road, the dimensions of which were chosen so that carts of oxen could turn around without any problems.
The doctor and poet Andries Gerhardus Visser lived in Steytlerville from 1909 to 1916.
