The Stichting voorheen RTM ( German  foundation former RTM ) is a railway museum or a museum railway in Ouddorp in the Netherlands . The museum has an extensive collection of historical trams from the Rotterdamse Tramweg Maatschappij (RTM), which no longer exists . The museum also operates a self-built museum railway on the Brouwersdam , on which historical RTM vehicles are used.

Today this is the only line in the Netherlands in Cape Gauge (1067 mm). The lines of many Dutch and foreign (intercity) trams were built in this gauge .

history

After the closure of the last regional tram of the RTM southwest of Rotterdam (which was soon called "het moordenaartje" ( the little murderer ) because of many accidents in the overcrowded areas in the south of Rotterdam ) in February 1966, the club, founded in 1965, seized the opportunity to Maintain the majority of the remaining vehicle fleet. Under difficult circumstances, the association managed to maintain the old tram depot in Hellevoetsluis (Tram Port). After the relationship with the community had deteriorated and the situation was unsustainable in the 1980s, the association decided to move, which happened in 1989. Over time, a vehicle depot was established west of Ouddorp (on Brouwersdam ) and a short tram route (including on Brouwersdam).

This was extended to a total of seven kilometers in length by April 2007, initially to Middelplaat Haven (possibility of changing to tourist shipping). On November 16, 2011 the line was again extended to the new terminus "West Repart / Dolfijn". This means that the Brouwersdam can now be traveled along its entire length.
