The Palearctic distribution area of this bug extends from Europe in the east to Siberia and Central Asia. In Europe the area of the species extends in a north-south direction from the south of Scandinavia to the northern Mediterranean area. Stictopleurus punctatonervosus is common in Germany south of the low mountain range and in Austria. It is largely absent in the northwestern German lowlands.

The species colonizes dry and warm, open habitats and is often found on nutrient-rich fallow land, on ruderal areas and on roadsides. She lives in the herb layer here .

Way of life

Stictopleurus punctatonervosus , like all glass wing bugs, is phytophagous . It sucks on various composite flowers (Asteraceae). In southern Central Europe, e.g. B. in southern Germany, two generations are probably formed per year.
