Parish church Neuberg an der Mürz
The parish church Neuberg an der Mürz as a former collegiate church Neuberg stands - structurally connected to the former monastery Neuberg - in the market town of Neuberg an der Mürz in the district of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag in Styria . The collegiate church , consecrated on the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary , became a parish church in 1786 in the Mürz Valley deanery of the Graz-Seckau diocese . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).
history
In 1327, on the initiative of Duke Otto the Fröhliche, a monastery was founded with monks from the Heiligenkreuz Abbey in Neuberg, which was abolished in 1786 by Emperor Joseph II . In the course of the abolition of the monastery, the collegiate church became a parish church and the former Grünangerkirche Neuberg parish church was downgraded to a branch church.
The construction of the former collegiate church was slowed down in the 14th century. Furthermore, the church building was badly damaged by fire in 1396. Initially, the church was based on the church in Salem in Germany, with the reconstruction after the fire, the elevation was changed. The construction of the collegiate church was significantly promoted by Emperor Friedrich III. The choir was completed in 1461, an inscription at the end of the choir names Friedericus Tertius Romanos Imperator AEIOU 1461 . In 1471 the high altar was consecrated. With the vaulting and the construction of the roof structure - the roof structure has been preserved intact to this day - the collegiate church was completed, here an inscription on the west rose gives the year 1496, three years after Friedrich's death.
architecture
The three-aisled and nine-bay hall church is flooded with light and has a powerful spatial effect and has a straight end in the east and is therefore rectangular. The narrow aisles have square yokes, the central nave has transverse rectangular yokes. The fourth yoke from the east as the transept is wider and accentuated with stronger pillars and stronger belt arches, but does not emerge laterally. The outer structure shows four-way stepped buttresses crowned with branches. Without the western front, the base zone shows a base zone with a cranked coffin cornice. In the middle of the north side of the nave at the fifth yoke there is a late Gothic two-story chapel extension of a Loreto chapel with an internal spiral staircase to the upper floor from the second half of the 15th century. Both the church and the chapel have buttresses at the corners.
Furnishing
The remarkable richly gilded high altar is considered to be the first significant altar of the 17th century in Styria and was documented in 1611/1612 and was built by the monastery sculptor Hans Georg Mader from Überlingen and the sculptors Jakob Huldi from Ulm and Thoman Steinmüllner.
- Organ and bells
The organ case is in the early Rococo style. The organ comes from Orgelbau Krenn in 1971. The organ consists of two manuals and a pedal, as well as 29 registers.
A bell from 1446 is from the type of Hans Mitter. A bell from 1526 is of the type by Laszlo Raczko. Nikolaus Löw von Löwenberg cast a bell in 1730.
