Grünangerkirche Neuberg
The uniformly late Gothic church of Maria Himmelfahrt on the green Anger (Grünangerkirche) is a listed property ( list entry ) in the hamlet of Alpl , Neuberg , in the municipality of Neuberg an der Mürz in Austria .
history
The church was built in the years 1477–1522 for a brotherhood and raised to the parish church of Neuberg in the middle of the 17th century. From 1786, with the abolition of the monastery, parish life shifted to the collegiate church and the Grünanger church lost its importance. In 1994 the Neuberg parish acquired the building from the Federal Forests and began the renovation. During the renovation work, which was completed in 1998, secco paintings from the early Renaissance were discovered.
architecture
The constricted two-bay choir with a 5/8 end adjoins the three-bay nave . The rooms have star rib vaults , which rest on round services. In the west the gallery rests on octagonal pillars. On the triumphal arch there is an inscription with the year 1513, under the portal of the sacristy there is an inscription with the number 1514. The windows are designed as two and three-lane tracery windows. In the west facade there is the crossed pointed arch portal in a vestibule. An eight-sided ridge turret with an onion helmet sits on the roof . The furnishings (altars, pulpit) come from the second half of the 17th century , the choir stalls from the 16th century.
