The family business Johann Spielmann was founded in 1894 as a beverage distributor. In the first few years, drinks were still transported in wooden barrels on horse-drawn vehicles.
In 2013 the Stiftsquelle opened a completely new production facility in Dorsten.

The Stiftsquelle is a mineral water spring from the Ruhr area. It belongs to Johann Spielmann GmbH in Essen . The location and filling point is Dorsten .

Stiftsquelle mineral water and Stiftsquelle lemonades are offered in various bottle sizes and shapes.

history

Johann Spielmann founded a beverage distributor in Essen-Stoppenberg in 1894 . Beer was z. B. fetched from Dortmund in barrels from the breweries to be bottled in Stoppenberg and then sold. After the war, the Sinalco lemonade was bottled under license . In order to save costs for expensive water, a well was drilled on the company premises in 1959. When examining the water, it turned out that it was very high quality mineral water. The Stiftsquelle brand was created. The name Stiftsquelle refers to the collegiate church in Essen-Stoppenberg, where the first spring was located.

In the next more than 50 years, the Stiftsquelle developed into one of the leading family-run mineral springs in the Ruhr area, which specializes exclusively in the production of high-quality mineral water products.

The location in the middle of a residential area in Essen-Stoppenberg and the associated impossibility of any expansion forced the company to relocate its bottling plant to Dorsten in 2013. The Dorsten location was chosen solely because of the quality of the water. In order to offer consumers high quality mineral water , several test wells were drilled in the entire Ruhr area in order to finally find mineral water in Dorsten that meets high quality standards.

Fountain

The wells of the Stiftsquelle are all located on the approximately 40,000 m² company premises in Dorsten and are up to 100 meters deep.

Environmental commitment

The Stiftsquelle strives to live up to its role as a “manufacturer” of a natural product through a special commitment to environmental protection. This was expressed many years ago in the form of the highest endowed environmental award from the city of Essen, and in various measures in everyday operation. These include particularly energy-efficient machines, the exclusive purchase of natural electricity or the preferred use of Euro 6 trucks. The commitment is made by neutral bodies such as B. TÜV (ISO certificate environmental management) certified and through participation in environmentally specific projects such. B. Ökoprofit anchored in the company and kept alive. The Stiftsquelle also produces its organic mineral water Landpark-Bioquelle completely climate-neutral.

Products

The Stiftsquelle offers natural mineral water in the types "natural mineral water" (normal carbon dioxide content), "medium" (reduced carbon dioxide content) and "natural" (non-carbonated) in the standard fountain bottle , in its own catering bottles and in various PET bottles of 0.5 liters up to 1.5 liters. Apple spritzer and various lemonades are also produced. Since 2019, the organic mineral water Landpark has also been bottled in Tetra Paks in the varieties Naturell and Bio-Lemon.
