The Foundation "Edith Maryon" to promote social homes and businesses is an anthroposophic oriented, founded in 1990, non-profit organization , which is the non-profit use of reason and soil and buildings has set the goal. The foundation takes over real estate of all kinds (and types of use) so that they are permanently protected from speculation . It makes the properties available to third parties for the realization of socially innovative and sustainable projects. The geographic focus of the foundation's activities is north-western Switzerland ( Basel and the surrounding area) and Berlin .

history

The Edith Maryon Foundation was founded in 1990 by Christoph Langscheid, John Ermel and Michael Riggenbach with starting capital of 12,000 Swiss francs. She is considered an early pioneer of mission and impact investing, specializing in real estate and land. Elements of the cohousing idea are often implemented in the living area . The foundation is named after the English sculptor Edith Maryon due to her commitment and a. for social housing. The foundation's total assets are CHF 157 million. (As of Dec. 2014) The Edith Maryon Foundation owes its growth to donations, legacies and interest-free loans from a large number of private individuals. Over the years, the foundation has also developed into a donation or sponsorship foundation in the field of art and culture.

The highest foundation body is the foundation council, consisting of five people. The Board of Trustees is supported by an advisory board made up of 18 people. The day-to-day business is the responsibility of an office with currently around 10 employees.
