The Gute Tat Foundation is a non-profit , operational foundation with headquarters in Berlin and branches in Munich and Hamburg . It was founded in 2000 by Jürgen Grenz.

Its aim is to bring people together with social organizations.

The full-time foundation operates a nationwide internet platform on the subject of civic engagement . Under the motto " Everyone can help" , helpful citizens and companies are brought together with social, non-profit organizations in a variety of ways. The foundation's main activities are the placement of volunteers within the framework of the " Today an Angel" initiative , the organization of volunteer days ( social days ) and the annual good deed marketplace for companies, as well as advice and fundraising for social organizations. The foundation currently operates in Berlin, Munich and Hamburg. In Berlin, over 11,000 people are currently volunteering in around 500 projects, and at the beginning of 2016 the foundation worked with around 1,000 organizations.

The foundation's assets are 200,000 euros (as of the end of 2019).

The foundation is a member of the Federal Association of German Foundations , the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband , Berlin, and the Federal Working Group of Volunteer Agencies eV BAGFA, was the national winner at startsocial , received the bagfa eV seal of quality and won the Feri Foundation Prize in 2007.

Short-term engagement

As part of the " Today an Angel" initiative for short-term volunteer work, the foundation places committed citizens in social, non-profit organizations and projects. The aim is to address people who want to get involved but cannot or do not want to make a continuous commitment.

The mediated projects usually only require a one-time participation or they take place in a manageable period of time, i.e. project-related . But there is also the possibility to get involved regularly. The "angels", as the voluntary helpers are called, can choose the time frame for their commitment by independently looking for projects that are interesting and suitable for them from a current project overview. The project overview, which can be found on the foundation's homepage, is updated daily.

An essential part of the foundation's work is to be a constant advisor and contact person for the volunteers and the social institutions.

The foundation primarily offers volunteering days and the placement of volunteer opportunities for companies.

Others

The foundation has been the initiator of the Gute-Tat marketplace in Berlin since 2006 . Once a year social organizations and representatives of companies meet to make agreements on social projects of the organizations. In order to draw attention to voluntary work, the foundation initiated a photo competition “Angels in Berlin” between May and August 2008.
