Rainer Makatsch (born July 1, 1946 in Leipzig ) is a former German ice hockey goalkeeper . He is the father of the actress Heike Makatsch .

Career

Rainer Makatsch spent the first years of his life in Frankfurt am Main . At the age of 11 he moved to Bad Nauheim . It was here that he saw a “ Red Devil ” ice hockey game for the first time . Starting as a teenager, he made his way to the first team. It was crucial for his sporting development that a former national goalkeeper of the USA, Larry Palmer , became a coach at VfL Bad Nauheim. Through him he got a goalkeeping-specific training that did not even exist in Germany at that time.

After moving to Düsseldorfer EG , he became German champion with them in 1972 and 1975. Makatsch completed 53 international A matches for the German Ice Hockey Federation . In 1970 he took part in the World and European Championships in Stockholm. 1972 became a high point of his career when he took part in the Winter Olympics in Sapporo with the German national team . With the Kölner Haien he was German champion in 1979. In the following years he let his career end with DJK SB Rosenheim , where he was last in the Bundesliga team in 1980/81 .
