Lawrence James "Larry" Palmer (born January 7, 1938 in Malden , Massachusetts ) is a former American ice hockey goalkeeper . At the 1960 Winter Olympics , he won the gold medal as a member of the US national team.
Career
Larry Palmer began his career as an ice hockey goalkeeper at the United States Military Academy , which he attended from 1956 to 1959, while he also played for their ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . After his time at West Point, he completed the required three years in active military service, but continued his national team career at the same time. In 1964 he left the US Army and became a successful investment banker.
International
For the USA Palmer took part in the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley , where he won the gold medal with his team. He was also in his country's squad for the 1961 World Cup .
