The Leuchtfeuer Foundation is a non-profit foundation established in 2001 to promote education, training, upbringing and rehabilitation based in Cologne . The founder is Peer Helge Salström-Leyh. It maintains facilities in Berlin , Erfurt , Cologne, Lübeck , Meckenheim , Naumburg , Paderborn and Wiesbaden and is particularly networked with similar sponsors in Scandinavia and the Baltic States . It is also known for its artistically designed annual calendar, in which a lighthouse always appears as a motif .

The foundation is one of the first institutions of its kind in Europe to be certified according to the European quality management system eQuass (European Quality in Social Services).

In 2015, the foundation was criticized for making economic profit from placing children in homes and dismissed this with a statement on the Internet.

The foundation is involved in the Cologne project “ Mülheim 2020” in the millions.
