The Forest and Wildlife Foundation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is a non-profit foundation founded by Claus Robert Agte in 1998 and based in Schildfeld . The foundation operates a training and meeting place in the former stable of the Schildfeld Forestry Farm. The Gutswald Rodenwalde with 650 hectares, 470 hectares of which is forest and 180 hectares of open land, in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, which Agte acquired in 1999, was transferred to the foundation after Agtes' death.

tasks

The foundation supports wildlife biology and forest science projects and is committed to biotope development , landscape design and species protection . Another focus of activity is public relations to ensure understanding for forest and game, but also the acceptance of the hunters.

Projects

50 projects have been funded in MV since 1998.

The foundation supports the partridge project in the Lewitz . The partridge project is working on a stabilization and increase of the partridge population on 12,000 hectares with the active cooperation of 42 district owners, 7 farms and the Parchim office. Biotope design measures, increased predator hunting and reintroduction of reared partridges are carried out. The partridge project operates a partridge breeding station to reintroduce partridge chains (partridge families) to the wild.

A research project has been running since 2019 that, based on extensive habitat analyzes at the black stork breeding sites in MV, aims to provide recommendations for action to improve the habitat of the black stork in MV. A previous project was already running in 2011.

In 1998, the foundation initiated a telemetry research project on fallow deer . The results from 1999 to 2010 were published in 2010 in the book Investigations on the use of space for fallow deer .
