Claus Robert Agte

Claus Robert Agte (born June 12, 1926 in Hamburg ; † January 1, 2018 ) was a German entrepreneur and founder .

Life

Claus Robert Agte was born the son of insurance salesman, soccer player and soccer coach Rudi Agte and his wife Bertha. After attending various schools, military service in World War II and a brief Canadian prisoner-of-war period , he worked in industry and retail . From 1949 on he did an internship at the Albingia insurance company . After a stay in London, he joined his father's insurance brokerage company in 1952 and became its sole owner in 1971. In 1973 a British partner was accepted. In 1986 the company was incorporated into the internationally oriented Jauch & Hübener KGaA. Agte became a partner and then a member of the supervisory board ; he ended his active role in 1991.

Due to his close friendship with Max Schmeling , he became a board member of the Max Schmeling Foundation in 1991 . In 1998 he founded the Forest and Wildlife Foundation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , which is committed to nature and species protection in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . In 1999 Agte acquired the Gutswald Rodenwalde in what is now the Ludwigslust-Parchim district . Here he established a hunting practice in which the needs of red and fallow deer are taken into account with short hunting times and the creation of grazing areas . The Gutswald was transferred to the foundation after Agtes death.

Claus Robert Agte was a member of the board of trustees of the German Wildlife Foundation , with whose founder Haymo Rethwisch he had a long-standing friendship.
