Style change

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The change in style is a constant phenomenon in all areas of the fine arts, literature, music, handicrafts and handicrafts, in fashion and in all areas of material culture , as well as in the respectively dominant moral or behavioral code of a certain society or social class . It can go hand in hand with a change in the zeitgeist or the political, economic and social situation. An abrupt or questionable change in style is called a style break .

The clearest examples of sudden changes in style can be found in architecture and painting . In music , such a change usually takes place more slowly. A striking example of the transition from baroque to rococo is the style gallant , which is also known as the pre-classic and is generally applied with the death of Johann Sebastian Bach : within about 20 years almost all composers switched from the strict, polyphonic style of the late baroque to lighter, more dynamic melodies and movements of the early classical period.

In modern times , the major lines of art styles in the visual arts usually changed in less than 100 years, with the 20th century accelerating the change in style.
