Tuning

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stimmwerck was a vocal ensemble that was founded in 2001 in Munich. It consisted of the two tenors Gerhard Hölzle and Klaus Wenk, bassist Marcus Schmidl and Franz Vitzthum as counter-tenor . Three of the four singers began their musical training with the Regensburger Domspatzen .

The name comes from the name for a group of the same instruments, as used for example in the textbook " Syntagma musicum " by Michael Praetorius . Regular sound recordings were an important building block in Stimmwerck's artistic work. The ensemble devoted itself to a Renaissance composer from German-speaking countries.

The first CD contained works by the Bamberg composer Heinrich Finck . The second CD was dedicated to compositions by Adam von Fulda . Together with the instrumental ensemble La Villanella, an SACD entitled “Susanne un jour” with works by Orlando di Lasso was sung in April 2007 .

Since 2005, the ensemble has organized the so-called “Stimmwercktage” annually on the Adlersberg near Regensburg in order to use modern technology to focus on the work of a selected Renaissance composer. From 2019 this festival will be continued by the Ensemble Singer Pur as Singer Pur Days .

In 2016, Stimmwerck was awarded the culture prize of the Upper Palatinate district in the “Vocal Ensemble” category. In 2019 the ensemble announced its dissolution.
