The Beijing University of Science and Technology (北京 科技 大学, Pinyin : Běijīng Kējì Dàxúe, English University of Science and Technology Beijing , USTB for short ), formerly known as the Beijing Steel and Iron Institute (北京 钢铁 学院), is a university in Beijing , Capital of the People's Republic of China .

Beijing University of Science and Technology is one of around 100 universities in Project 211 in China. It reports directly to the Chinese Ministry of Education. The USTB is known in China for its courses in the field of metallurgical engineering and materials science.

Beijing University of Science and Technology is located on the 4th Ring Road in Beijing's Haidian district and covers an area of ​​around 56 hectares .

The USTB's training focus is on the engineering sector. It also offers courses in the areas of basics, management, humanities, economics and law.

The Beijing University of Science and Technology consists of nine faculties with 39 courses leading to the 1st academic degree. In addition, 65 master’s courses, 26 doctoral exams and seven habilitation theses are offered in various research areas.

With the development of seven national key disciplines, including metallurgical engineering, materials science, materials technology, construction technology, theory and technology in mining, management and engineering, the USTB has established itself and enjoys an excellent national and international reputation.

23,439 full-time students are enrolled at the USTB, including 13,597 students for the 1st degree, 5,947 students in the master’s program, 2,237 for the doctoral examination and 707 international students. Beijing University of Science and Technology employs 412 professors, 705 associate professors , seven members of the Academy of Sciences and two of the Chinese members of the Academy of Technology.

At the 2008 Olympic Games , the USTB sports facilities hosted the judo and taekwondo competitions.
