The Stinker Point ( English for iceberg tip ) is a headland on the south coast of Bird Island in the archipelago of South Georgia in the South Atlantic . It marks the western limit of the entrance from Jordan Cove into Freshwater Inlet .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the headland in 2012. It is named after the giant petrel ( Macronectes giganteus ), which is known as a stinker in English seafaring language .
