The Stoewer 8 Type S 8 is a passenger car of the upper-middle class , which the automobile company Stoewer brought out 1928th Bernhard Stoewer wanted to offer his customers something very special because he thought that this was the only way his small company could assert itself against foreign competition.
The vehicle had an 8-cylinder SV in-line engine with a displacement of 2 liters at the front, developing 45 hp and driving the rear wheels via a 4-speed gearbox. 380 copies were made in 1928.
A larger one was placed next to the small car. The Stoewer 8 type G 14 was built according to the same concept, but had a longer chassis and a 3.6 liter engine that developed 70 hp. 150 pieces were made in 1928.
Both vehicles were redesigned in 1928: The Stoewer 8 type S 10 with 2.5 liter engine (50 hp) replaced the S 8, the Stoewer Gigant type G 15 with 4 liter engine (80 hp) replaced the G 14. There was also a short wheelbase version of the G 15 ( G 15 K ). The S 10 had 790 units by 1930, the G 15 (in all versions) 650 units by 1933.
In 1930, the Stoewer Marschall Type M 12 appeared as the successor to the S 10 . Its engine had a displacement of 3 liters and made 60 hp. 280 copies were made by 1934, 800 pieces were delivered to the Reichswehr in 1935 and 1936 .
The Stoewer representative type P 20 appeared in 1930 as the top model of the eight-cylinder . Its 4.9 liter engine developed 100 hp. In 1930 and 1933, however, only 24 vehicles were built.
In 1934 the Stoewer Greif V8 replaced the models with an 8-cylinder in-line engine.
