The Stoewer Greif V8 - named after the city coat of arms from the original manufacturing Szczecin - is a car of the upper middle class , which the Stoewer Stoewer-Werke AG, formerly Gebr. , In 1934 as a successor to the type Marshal brought out. Like the brand's smaller models, the car, unlike its predecessor, had front-wheel drive and independently suspended wheels.
The elegant pre-series car designed by Bernhard Stoewer was shown at the Berlin Motor Show in 1933, but did not go into series production with its 2-liter engine.
The production vehicle had an 8-cylinder V-engine with a displacement of 2.5 liters and upright valves , which developed 55 hp. The engine was installed at the front and powered the front wheels via a 4-speed gearbox. These were suspended on two transverse leaf springs, the rear wheels on longitudinal swing arms with horizontally installed coil springs. The body was designed conservatively and lacked the flair of previous Stoewer designs.
A year later, a sports cabriolet with a more powerful engine (57 hp) appeared. Of all the versions, only 825 were made by 1937.
In 1937 the six-cylinder Stoewer Arkona replaced the V8 types.
