Stojan Marinow Romanski ( Bulgarian Стоян Романски ; born March 8, 1882 in Orchanie , † February 26, 1959 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian philologist and ethnographer .

Life

Romanski graduated from the University of Sofia with a degree in Slavic Studies . In Leipzig he deepened his studies. From 1909 he worked first as a lecturer and then as a professor at the University of Sofia. He was a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences .

In his scientific work he dealt with Balkan studies . The focus was on Bulgarian linguistics as well as Bulgarian and Slavic ethnography . The work on the dictionary of contemporary Bulgarian literary language was carried out under his direction. Romanski was awarded the Dimitrov Prize .
