Stonecutters Bridge

The Stonecutters Bridge is a 1.6-kilometer cable-stayed bridge that connects the Tsing Yi and Stonecutters Island in Hong Kong .

The bridge is part of Route 8, which connects Sha Tin , Cheung Sha Wan , Tsing Yi, Ma Wan and Lantau Island . Measured by its longest span of just over a kilometer, it is the third longest cable-stayed bridge in the world after the Russky Bridge and the Sutong Bridge . The construction cost was 2.76 billion Hong Kong dollars .

It was opened to traffic on December 20, 2009.

Arup received the Supreme Award from the Institution of Structural Engineers for structural design .
